Active Aging and Falls Prevention
We will start with a comprehensive, individual assessment to understand how you move, your overall health and important aspects of your daily life and social situation. We will also talk about what matters most to you and your personal goals, which may include:
- Maintaining independence at home
- Reducing falls or fear of falling
- Staying active and mobile
Following your assessment and together with you, we will develop a personalised plan that may include:
- Simple, tailored exercises to help activate and strengthen specific muscle groups
- Use hands-on treatment where appropriate
- Prescribe targeted balance exercises to help you feel steadier on your feet
- Support with walking and movement or tips to improve your gait if needed
- Offering practical advice on everyday activities, lifestyle choices and any equipment or aids that could make life easier at home
You will receive a clear, easy-to-follow tailored exercise programme with videos sent by email and available on our exercise app, or a printed copy with pictures if you prefer. This can be followed independently or with support from a family member or carer.
If you have experienced a fall, your physiotherapist will carry out a falls assessment to help identify possible causes and will work with you to build confidence and reduce your fear of falling.
Our aim is to help you move with confidence, stay independent and continue doing the things that matter to you. Every programme is tailored to your needs, at your pace, with support for both your physical health and overall wellbeing.
